Getting Started

How does Wise Kid work?
Wise Kid is a reading tracker where parents create profiles for their children, share a unique submission link, and children submit book summaries. Our AI evaluates each summary and provides detailed feedback, scores, and reading insights.
How do I add my child?
From your dashboard, click "Add Child" and enter their display name, birth year, and reading level. You'll get a unique submission link to share with them.
How does my child submit a reading summary?
Share the submission link with your child (via text, email, or QR code from your dashboard). They open the link on any device, select or enter the book they read, and write a summary of what they read. Kids can also use voice-to-text to speak their summary instead of typing.
What happens after my child submits?
Our AI evaluates the summary within seconds, providing an overall score (1-5), subscores for specificity, structure, insight, and vocabulary, plus personalized feedback, reading tips, and book recommendations. You'll receive an email notification with the full evaluation.

AI Evaluation

How does the AI scoring work?
Each summary receives an overall score from 1-5, plus subscores in four areas: Specificity (how detailed), Structure (how well organized), Insight (depth of understanding), and Vocabulary (language quality). The AI also provides encouraging feedback, reading tips, and book recommendations.
What is the Authenticity Shield?
Our dual-AI detection system checks if a submission might be AI-generated rather than written by your child. It checks signals like vocabulary level, grammar patterns, and writing style compared to the child's age. Only submissions flagged by both AI models are marked.
Can I give feedback on the AI's scoring?
Yes! On each submission detail page, you can mark the score as "Too High", "About Right", or "Too Low". This calibration feedback helps us improve the AI over time.

Features

What are Reading Challenges?
Challenges are fun goals you can set for your children, like reading 5 books in a month or reading for 300 minutes. Children can see their active challenges on the submission page, track progress, and earn badges when they complete them.
How do Weekly Reading Goals work?
Set a weekly minutes target for each child from the dashboard. The goal automatically resets each Monday. When your child hits their target, they earn a celebration email and a "Goal Getter" badge.
What is the Vocabulary Word Bank?
The AI extracts interesting vocabulary words from each submission. These are collected in a word bank on your child's profile page, where you can track their vocabulary growth over time.
Can my child use voice input?
Yes! If you enable speech-to-text for a child (toggle on their card in the dashboard), they can record their summary by speaking instead of typing. This is great for younger readers.
How do I export my child's reading data?
Go to your child's profile page and use the CSV Export option to download their submission history. PDF reports with charts and summaries are also available.

Billing & Account

What's included in the free trial?
The 14-day free trial includes all features: AI evaluation, badges, challenges, goals, word bank, and more. You can add up to 2 children with 3 submissions per day.
What are the paid plans?
Starter ($8.99/mo) for 3 children, Family ($14.99/mo) for 8 children, Homeschool ($29.99/mo) for 25 children, and Classroom ($49.99/mo) for teachers with up to 35 students. All paid plans include every feature — they only differ in child/student count and daily submission limits. Save ~17% with annual billing on any plan.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings > Billing and click "Manage Subscription" to open the Stripe billing portal. You can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of your billing period.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Go to Settings and you'll find the data export and account deletion options. Account deletion permanently removes all your data including children profiles and submission history.

Privacy & Safety

Is my child's data safe?
Yes. We take children's privacy seriously and comply with COPPA regulations. Children's data is only accessible to their parent. We don't sell or share personal data with third parties.
Can other parents see my child's information?
No. All data is strictly isolated per parent account. Your children, books, and submissions are only visible to you.
How can I export or delete my data?
You can export all your data in JSON format from Settings, or request full account deletion. Both options are available at any time, regardless of subscription status.
